Bad inside bunnies.

So I guess if they were bad bunnies outside they are going to be bad bunnies inside.

Could someone please explain to me the reason for rabbit pooping in front of the cat litter box??? While cleaning the poops I think I discovered pee. How can I tell if they have peed elsewhere and how do I put a stop to it?

Happens here too. The buns spend their day in a room with a tile floor, which is easy to clean. At night we have run-around time, and they've picked a place in the bedroom that they like to pee and poop, even though they're generally pretty good about using their litter boxes otherwise. I think it's a marking thing, and rather than fighting it, I just lay down some old towels in the favored spot and let them decorate them, and then wash them.

Oh, bunnies,,,,,strong scents can deter, like Tea Tree OIL, Lavender too. also aluminum foil. White vinegar where they have peed is good, cleans up like nothing else i've tried and descents. Putting a box there can help, but right next tot he cat box, could be problematical. My buns sure aren't perfect.......

Both great ideas. Thanks so much. I will give it a try.

the strong scents idea is a good one. Freckles hates perfume and I've got some really strong stuff that I can't wear! A little squirt will do it.

You mean you don't just sit them down and have a little talk ????

(Just today Bunny Lady was saying how The Princess clearly follows her own agenda .. and we been working with her for 7 years!)

oh ya the sitting them down and having a little talk works like a charm doesn't it?!....they seem to know they are protected under the never scold a bunny rule.

my bunnies are usually pretty good about getting in their box the only time they are noticeable bad about it is when they are mad. if i've been gone too long for instance, like 12 hours to them might as well be attempted murder as far as they're concerned.

my advice would be to try to figure out if they are upset about something and see if you can smooth it out. if not i just keep putting littet boxes where they 'miss' and then gradually remove them if it seems like they aren't using that particular one anymore. they seem to know if you trying to make them happy and if they feel that you are making a genuine effort then they may honor that effort by 'working' with you.

good luck!
