I was in the backyard tonight, watering the tree, and I look over and there is wild bunny. I was pretty close, she didn't seem to mind. She was eating the clover.
As I watched her I thought she was sitting funny, and her tail looked odd. I noticed she had poop stuck to her butt. I got the camera and took a few pics. Her right leg looked funny as she hopped away from me, kind of sticks out a bit. She didn't run from me either, I'm not sure that she could. I also noticed that she pooped lots, which rabbits do, you just don't normally see it coming out.
Unfortunately I have no safe traps (I have no traps at all). I don't know if she is a bun that hangs out in our yard often, or a newbie. Can you tell what's wrong? Should I try to trap her? Or just let wild buns be wild buns?

Wild rabbits have an average life span of 18 months. I've rescued quite a few birds and the only one Wildlife Rescue couldn't do anything for was one that had a fly infestation. That was a hopeless situation but I'm still glad I tried. Maybe you could call local Wildlife Resue if you have one.
Dang 18 months?!!! Hard to believe. Sad.
Guess that explains why I don't see Asha (Indian for hope) around anymore. I always knew it was her by the nick in her ear. I have seen others with similar nicks in their ear.
We have THE BEST wildlife rescue out here, Wolf Hollow. They would just tell me to catch it and tell me where to bring it.

I bought my have-a-heart type trap at a place called Harbor Freight, $20.00. I did learn the hard way to put a tie wrap on the back door to make sure it stayed shut.
Tough question....given rabbits sensitive nature one might risk heart attack if you caught and brought it to the vet...
Do you think that bunn might go into the cage if there was some yummy food way in the back and then have a long stick on the door and close it?
I think our friend Shelley would take the bunn and see if it is repairable - she might help capture it this weekend. I'll tell BunnyLady and maybe she'll call.
Yeah I'd try to catch it and see if I could get it help, for sure. Sounds like rabbits' guy might help. He's a hero :-)
